And They Are Off...

The Great Eight arrived at the airport by 7:30 this morning to begin the process of check-in and security.  It may sound funny, but it is a BIG relief when the luggage makes it past the scales.

The luggage:  One carry-on with the travel essentials, Two suitcases to check.  Of  the two suitcases one is for personal and the second is for supplies.  This year the supplies consist of Bibles, technology, medical supplies, gifts for hosts and sponsor families, and children's ministry materials.

After check-in everyone circled up to pray.  Prayer is where ministry begins.  Then the team headed through security to start the journey to Uganda.

Here is what their next 48 hours look like. Around 22 hours of planes until Kampala. Go through customs. Sleep.  Get on a bus for 8 or so hours to Gulu.  Get adjusted (eh, well slightly adjusted), meet with UMC hosts and prepare for medical clinic.  Sleep.  By this point it will be Friday - the day of the first medical clinic.

Prayer requests:

1) Good health through all the changes in diet and environment.
2) Ability to relax and rest during travel.
3) God to go before this team and prepare the people's hearts they will be ministering to.
4) Customs to go smoothly.
5) Bonding time for this team. Not only between each other but also in heart preparation with Jesus.

Several people have asked recently how Central's Uganda Project began.  Here is a link to a blog I wrote on that a few years ago for anyone who is interested. https://lifeatthorntonville.com/2015/05/20/faith-steps-the-first-trip-to-uganda/

Thanks for the prayers and welcome to the Great Eight's adventures in Uganda as they work to be the hands and feet of Christ.
